The police in Ogun State have launched investigation to unravel the mystery behind why a 33-year-old man, Segun Ogunlusi, killed his biological mother.

The suspect was said to have stabbed Mrs Abimbola Ogunlusi to death on Tuesday at her house situated at 16, Oketunde Street, Molatori, Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

It was learnt that he hurriedly buried the 60-year-old victim in a soak away close to the house.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident in a statement Thursday, said the reason for the action of the suspect was still under investigation.

Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, disclosed that Ogunlusi was arrested by police operatives following a report from his younger sister, Yetunde Ogunlusi.

He said: “The suspect was arrested following a report from his younger sister, Yetunde Ogunlusi who reported that she left her mother, Mrs. Abimbola Ogunlusi, aged 60 years at home when she was going to work on 13th December, 2016 but on getting back home at about 7.15pm she could not find her mother.
“She stated further that when she inquired from her elder brother, Segun Ogunlusi who was at home with their mother, the explanation given by her elder brother was not satisfactory enough.

“Based on her report, the DPO Ogijo Division, SP Ahmed Tijani led a team of policemen to the house situated at 16, Oketunde Street, Molatori Ogijo where the suspect was promptly arrested.”
