In an attempt to get an accurate and reliable database, the Oyo State Government have discovered about ten thousand dormant teachers after a thorough verification exercise.
Those discovered were primary school teachers under the state Universal Basic Education Board, (UBE).
According to the results gotten, pupil-teacher ratio is 14 to 1 at primary school level. Whereas optimally, the ratio supposed to be 30 pupils to a teacher.
Speaking to newsmen yesterday in Ibadan, the state capital, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology Prof. Joseph Adeniyi Olowofela, described the situation as disturbing and retrogressive as he insisted that there is no going back on restructuring of schools.
